profile of arran lewis

 

Born in South Wales in 1975 , and brought up in the Rhondda Valleys in which was once one of the many mining communities of the area. Arran was inspired at a young age by watching his mother paint and sketch, and by studying the many art books that she had. All the way through education it was noted that he had a particular creative ability. At the age of 13 he remembers a group of six form pupils standing around him and watching him draw a portrait of his younger brother, with them making many comments that boosted his confidence in his creative skills.

In later years he decided to study graphic design, and chose to pursue a career within that area. For years Arran worked within companies that specialised in signage and exhibition graphics and design, he worked as a graphic designer and also as a graphic studio supervisor, as well as working freelance on creative projects within his free time.

The next step was inevitable as Arran decided it was time to work freelance on a full time basis, within the areas of Art and Design, with particular focus on bettering his skills in fine art and his knowledge of the many software packages that aid the digital aspects of creativity.

Arran now lives in Falmouth in Cornwall, surrounded by lots of natural inspiration and beauty, and studying as a mature student at Falmouth College of Art , studying a BA(Hons) in Illustration.
